Candace D. Patrick is a writer, director, and producer born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She found her screenwriting passion through participation in the Scriptwriters Network High School Fellowship Program. That program led her to earn her BA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University where she developed her voice by focusing on stories that authentically depict human journeys. Her stories explore themes of grief and healing, mental health, finding joy, and debunking stereotypes. Candace has continued to hone her skills in filmmaking through fellowship and networking programs including Hillman Grad Mentorship courses (Lena Waithe), The People’s Film School (Rachel Raimist, DGA), and Roadmap Writers. 

Notable work includes her acclaimed short film "The 5th Room," where she earned nominations for Best Director, Best Short, and Best Writer. Her 1-hour family drama pilot, “Harrington’s Crossing,” advanced to the finalist round of the Spring 2021 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices competition. Candace’s upcoming project, "Finding JaMia's Spirit" earned her a selection as a 2023 Reel Sisters Micro Budget Film Fellow which guarantees a world premiere at their Oscar Qualifying Film Festival in the fall of 2024. 

Candace currently works as a Marketing Director for the study abroad program, Semester at Sea, a program she fell in love with after participating as a student on the Spring 2007 Voyage. When not writing, Candace loves to travel, and fight with her cat, Nougat, for the most comfortable seat in her apartment.
